(Cassy Martin) I was inspired by a Native Bee hive on the school grounds. It’s nestled in the scar of an ancient tree used by the first nations people. The imagery of a sensitive native animal being held in a strong tree links to the proud heritage of the local people, spoke loudly to me. This connection of Nature, Place, People led to the creation of a short story recorded in video, and presented in AR. The hive itself became the trigger to overlay the video story so the experience is viewed on country surrounded by the bees.
“There’s a nest of native bees and they guard the sacred flower. However one of the bees grew greedy and went to collect pollen from that flower. For breaking the rules of the hive and violating the sacred flower the other bees chased him away.”
